Do i have to have experience to serve on the Production Team?

No previous experience required to serve on this team. Many of our volunteers have started on the team with little to no experience and now operate at a high capacity. We ask that you maintain a good and teachable attitude, and stay committed to learning the craft.

How often do your weekend volunteers serve?

Production team members typically serve once every 2-4 weeks depending on their position. There are some positions or team members who prefer to serve at a higher frequency.

How do you organize volunteers?

We formulate an open rotation (as opposed to “fixed” teams) each month using the online production scheduling software Planning Center Online. There's also a tech schedule or “run sheet” created every week that serves as a roadmap to Sunday morning programming elements.

How do you train your volunteers?

There are three main components to our training. First, we rely heavily on mentor-apprentice relationships between veteran volunteers and new trainees. A new volunteer will shadow and train alongside one of our seasoned “pros” before going solo. Secondly, we use an on-the-job review environment where a given team will meet between services to watch a recording, then evaluate and discuss the previous performance. The third component is training sessions that will occur during the year with specific teams to dive deeper into that area of production.

How Long is the training process?

Training process is dependent on person to person, but here is a rough map of time it takes to be on the team running a position on your own.

Camera Operator: 1-2 Weekends
CG Operator: 2-4 Weekends
Video Director: 2-4 Months
